Hi everyone. We are in the last week of the regular season, time goes by fast! We have one last game and we are already in playoff mode because they start next weekend. We want to prove that we can go a step further than the last two seasons and advance to the second round. Go Rip City!

Ahora tenemos cuatro partidos durísimos para acabar el mes, dos contra los Spurs, uno contra Oklahoma City y otro contra New Orleans… esperamos seguir con la buena racha!

Hi everyone from Portland! Here in the US the March Madness of the NCAA is going on right now. All my teammates are following the tournament and their schools. I think it’s an intense, exciting tournament, very fun to watch. We have our own march madness, the final aprt of the regular season. We have won 4 of the last 5 games but we can’t relax.

Now we have four tough games to finish the month, two against the Spurs, one against OKC and one against New Orleans… we hope to continue with the good streak!

Después de cinco partidos seguidos en casa nos toca viajar otra vez. Empezamos en Denver donde hacía un frío increíble. Parece que muchas partes de Estados Unidos están afectadas por temporales de nieve y ahora nos toca Indiana y Cleveland, sitios que no son precisamente cálidos... Cuando hace mal tiempo los viajes se disfrutan menos, casi ni podemos salir del hotel! Realmente esta temporada el tiempo no se está portando mal en Portland, así que ya tengo ganas de volver de este viaje...

After five straight games at home we are on the road again. We started the trip in Denver, were it was terribly cold. It seems many differents places in the US are affected by snowstorms and bad weather , and now we have Indiana and Cleveland, not warm places precisely... When the weather is this bad you don’t enjoy the trips that much, we can’t even get out of the hotel! This season the weather hasn’t really been bad in Portland, so I’m ready to get back home from this trip...

Feliz 2011 a todo el mundo! Después de pasar el día de Navidad lejos de Portland fue bonito poder pasar el fin de año en casa. Aunque mi madre estaba conmigo, el resto de mi família y amigos estaban en España... así que celebraron la llegada del nuevo año unas horas antes que yo. Aún así lo celebré con ellos en la distancia! Un par de días después pudimos celebrar todo el equipo con la afición, ganando el octavo partido seguido en el Rose Garden. Una buena manera de empezar el año.

Happy 2011 everyone! After being far from Portland for Christmas it was nice to be able to be home for new year’s eve. Altough my mom was with me, most of my family and friends were in Spain... so they celebrated a few hours before me. But I celebrated anyway with them from the distance! A couple nights later the team was able to celebrate with our fans, winning our eighth consecutive game at the Rose Garden. A great way to start the year.

No es nada habitual estar cinco días sin partido en la NBA... esta semana nos ha ocurrido y ya tenemos todos ganas de jugar, hoy contra los Hornets en casa. Han sido unos días en los que hemos aprovechado para recuperarnos físicamente y para trabajar y mejorar cosas como equipo. El domingo empezamos una gira de cuatro partidos por el la costa este y como siempre será un difícil examen. Estos últimos días, sin partido, he estado bien acompañado porqué ha venido a pasar una temporada conmigo un amigo de Mallorca, antes que venga la família por Navidad.

It’s not usual not to have a game in five days in the NBA... it happened to us this week and now we are ready to play again, today against the Hornets at home. During these days we have tried to stay healthy and we worked on the things that we need to improve also. We start a four game road trip on the east coast on Sunday and it’s always a tough test. The last days, with no games, I have had good company because I have a friend from Mallorca  staying with me for some time, before my family comes over for Christmas.

La temporada sigue avanzando y, después de dos victorias seguidas ahora recibimos a dos equipos que han empezado muy bien la temporada, Utah y New Orleans. Serán dos partidos muy duros... y justo después empezamos otra gira de cuatro partidos. Lo que demuestra la dureza del calendario NBA... Esta semana hemos tenido las malas notícias de las lesiones de Greg Oden y de Brandon Roy.

Este equipo ha tenido muy mala suerte con las lesiones pero solo nos queda estar unidos y apoyarnos entre nosotros. Espero que Greg y Brandon se recuperen y vuelvan a demostrar que son grandes jugadores.

The season keeps advancing and, after two wins, we will host two teams that started the season really well: Utah and New Orleans. They will be tough teams to beat... and right after we have a four game road trip. Which shows how tough the NBA schedule is... This week we had the bad news of Greg Oden’s and Brandon Roy’s injuries.

This team has had very bud luck with injuries, we just have to stay united and support each other. I hope both Greg and Brandon get well and area ble to show how great players they are.

After a good home win against the Pistons we are back on the road for the second trip of the season. We will play the Thunder (tomorrow), the Hornets and the Grizzlies. It will be a tough trip because all teams are dangerous. We lost against Okc at home so we obviously want to make up for that. The Hornets have had a great start and the Grizzlies of my friend Marc are a young and talented team... so we need our A game every night

Después de una buena victoria en casa contra los Pistons estamos otra vez de viaje para la segunda gira de la temporada. Jugamos contra los Thunder (mañana) y contra los Hornets y los Grizzlies. Será una gira dura porque los tres equipos son peligrosos. Perdimos en casa contra los Thunder i evidentemente queremos remediar esa derrota. Los Hornets han hecho un gran inicio de temporada y los Grizzlies de mi amigo Marc son un equipo joven y talentoso. O sea que necesitamos nuestro mejor juego cada noche.

Después de un verano atípico, en el que han pasado muchas cosas, llega el momento del inicio de la temporada regular, mi tercera temporada en la NBA. El equipo ha hecho una buena pretemporada, no tanto por los resultados (3-4) como por la conjunción del equipo. Aunque todavía nos quedan muchas cosas por mejorar, creo que el equipo está en una buena línea. Debutamos hoy contra los Suns, el equipo que nos eliminó la temporada pasada. Eso y, el ambiente que siempre hay en el Rose Garden en ocasiones especiales, hará que la motivación no sea ningún problema.

Personalmente me he sentido cómodo esta pretemporada, sobretodo en el tiro de tres; ahora hay que intentar mantener la forma e ir mejorando día a día.

After an atypical summer, where a lot of things happened, arrives the time of the start of the regular season, my third season in the NBA. The team has done a good job in the preseason, not so much for the results (3-4) but for the chemistry of the team. Although we have a lot of room to improve, I think we are on the right track. Our debut today is against the Suns, the team that eliminated us last season in the playoffs. For that, and for the great atmosphere that the Rose Garden always has on great occasions, motivation won’t be an issue.

Personally, I have been comfortable in the preseason, especially with outside shooting; now it’s a matter of keeping the strike and get better every day.

Ayer jugamos el cuarto partido de pretemporada y, como el año pasado lo hicimos en el Memorial Coliseum, el antiguo estadio de los Blazers. Creo que está bien poder rememorar épocas pasadas de una de las franquicias con más historia de la liga, y jugar en el sitio donde jugaron históricos como Drexler, Porter, etc. Perdimos el partido -hemos perdido tres de cuatro- pero ahora estamos en fase de adaptación y mejorando día a día. Queda poco para el inicio de la temporada regular.

Last night we played our fourth preseason game and, like we did last year, we played at the Memorial Coliseum , the old Blazers arena. I think it's nice to reminisce the older times of one of the more historied franchises in the league, and play were legends like Drexler, Porter, etc had played before. We lost the game -we lost three out of four- but now we are adapting and getting better every day. The start of the regular season is close.

Soy un profesional y por eso estoy hoy en Portland. Quiero demostrar respeto a la franquicia de los Blazers, a la ciudad de Portland y a los aficionados del equipo. Quiero ir día a día con los objetivos de este año. Pero en mi corazón mi deseo es volver a casa, estar cerca de mi familia, de mis padres y de mis amigos.

Espero y creo que todos los fans de Portland me puedan entender. Si en algún momento he dicho algo incorrecto pido disculpas. Nate McMillan es un buen entrenador y he aprendido muchas cosas de él pero mi estilo de juego se adapta más a Europa que al sistema de la NBA y por eso prefiero volver a casa. Ahora mismo no quiero... pensar en jugar en otro equipo de la NBA porque mi equipo son los Blazers.
 
 
I’m a profesional and this is why I’m in Portland today. I want to show respect to the Blazers franchise, to the city of Portland and to the fans. I want to take it day by day, but in my heart my desire is to go back home, be close to my family, my parents and my friends.

I hope and I believe that the Blazers fans will understand. If I said something incorrect in the past I apologize. Nate McMillan is a good coach and I learned a lot from him, but my style of play fits more European basketball than the NBA system, that’s why I would prefer to go back home. Right now I don’t want to think about playing for a different NBA team because the Blazers are my team.

Esta mañana hemos presentado en la Escuela Técnica Profesional del Clot mi compromiso como embajador de la Fundación Plan. Los niños y niñas del colegio han podido compartir conmigo y los responsables de Plan el proyecto en el que me he involucrado y el estudio “Por ser niñas” que ofrece datos reveladores sobre la dura situación de muchas niñas en muchos países del mundo. Podéis encontrar más información en http://plan-espana.org/. Es un verdadero placer estar involucrado con Plan, una colaboración que empezó con un viaje a Egipto, y espero poder continuar haciéndolo en el futuro. Ellos forman un equipo muy especial para mí.

This morning we introduced my commitment as ambassador of Plan Foundation at a school in Barcelona. The boys and girls were able to share with me and the staff from Plan the project that I’m involved with and the study “Por ser niñas” (“Because of being girls”) which offers revealing information about the tough situation of many girls around the world. You can find more information at http://plan-espana.org/. It’s really a pleasure to be involved with Plan, a collaboration that started with a trip to Egypt,  and I look forward to keep doing it in the future. They form a very special team to me.

Mañana presentación de mi nombramiento como Embajador de la Fundación PLAN en la Escuela Técnica Profesional del Clot (Barcelona) a las 11.00. También presentaremos el cuarto informe "Por ser niñas". Muy ilusionado por la colaboración con PLAN que empezó con un viaje inolvidable e Egipto este verano.

Tomorrow presentation of my appointment as ambassador of PLAN Foundation in Barcelona.We will also introduce the report: “Por ser niñas” (because of being girls). Very excited the collaboration with PLAN that started with an unforgettable trip to Egypt this summer.

Después de un Mundial irregular, en el que no pudimos conseguir nuestro objetivo, conseguir una medalla, y en el que no estuvimos a nuestro nivel, ahora toca mirar adelante y pensar en el futuro. El proyecto de la selección española continua y debemos pensar en recuperar nuestro mejor nivel de cara al Europeo de Lituania 2011 y con los Juegos Olímpicos de Londres 2012. Personalmente, he intentado centrarme en este mundial sin pensar mucho en mi situación profesional, y he intentado luchar hasta el final.

Ahora, igualmente, toca descansar un poco y volver al trabajo pronto.

After an irregular World Championship in which we couldn’t reach our goal, winning a medal, and were we weren’t able to play at our level, now we have to look ahead and  think about the future. The project of spanish basketball continues and now we have to think about getting back to play at our best level in the European championships in 2011 in Lithuania with the 2012 London Olympics on the horizon. Personally, I’ve tried to focus on the tournament and not think much about my professional situation, and I’ve tried to fight till the end.

Now, it’s time to rest a little before going back to work

La derrota en cuartos contra Serbia ha sido dura pero como mis compañeros y yo mismo dijimos después del partido, seguiremos con el mismo compromiso que siempre hemos tenido para volver a competir y intentar seguir ganando más medallas en el futuro. El proyecto de la selección sigue su ciclo y el baloncesto español se mantendrá competitivo.  A veces tener un contratiempo inesperado te ayuda a ser más fuerte y estoy convencido que nos levantaremos. Ahora queremos acabar lo mejor posible en este mundial y hacer que nuestra afición esté orgullosa de nosotros.

The defeat in the quarterfinals against Serbia was tough but like my teammates and myself said after the game, we will keep the commitment that we have always had to be able to compete again and try to win more medals in the future. The spanish team project is alive and spanish basketball will continue being competitive. Sometimes to have a setback like this makes you stronger and I’m convinced that we will stand up. Now we want to finish the best possible way this championship and make our fans proud.

Durante la primera fase del campeonato hemos sufrido y no hemos estado a nuestro máximo nivel pero el compromiso y las ganas de competir son las máximas. Por eso ahora, que llega el momento decisivo, debemos recuperar nuestro mejor juego. El partido de octavos contra Grecia es un reto de la máxima exigencia. Pero como comenté, estos momentos son los que siempre esperamos vivir, ahora empieza “lo bueno”. Espero poder contaros pronto buenas noticias!

During the first round of the tournament we suffered and we haven’t played at our best capacity but the commitment and our will to compete are huge as always. That’s why now, that the decisive moment has arrived, we have to regain our best game. The elimination game against Greece is a very demanding challenge. But like I said before, this are the moments that we live for, now starts “the best part”. I hope to be able to come up with good news soon.
