Durante el parón del fin de semana del All Star me quedé en Portland para entrenar y estar a tope para la segunda parte de la temporada. Mi amigo Ferran Calderón grabó este video al final de mi entrenamiento con Nick, de los Blazers.

During the All Star break Rudy I stayed in Portland to practice hard and be ready for the second part of the season. My friend Ferran Calderón shot this video at the end of practice with Nick from the Blazers.

Ya avisé antes de irnos de viaje que este gira por el este era un reto para el equipo, y creo que el balance es altamente positivo: 4 victorias y una derrota. Era un reto no sólo por la dificultad añadida de jugar fuera, también por el hecho de jugar dos veces "back to back" como dice aquí es decir, dos partidos en dos días seguidos. El equipo ha estado unido y hemos sido capaces de sacar un buen balance. Esto nos mantiene por ahora en puestos de playoffs que es nuestro objetivo principal.

Sólo quedan 19 partidos y hay que hacer un último esfuerzo, que no es fácil a estas alturas y con tantos viajes y partidos acumulados...

I warned before going on the road that this east trip was a challenge for this team, and I think that the evaluation is very positive: 4 wins and one loss. It was a challenge not only for playing away from home but also because we had two consecutive back to back games. The team has been close and united and we have been able to have a good record on this trip. This keeps us in the playoffs for now, which is our main goal.

We only have 19 games left on the season and we have to make a last effort, which is not easy with so many trips and games on our backs...

Estos días tengo a unos amigos de Badalona de visita en Portland. Están todos en mi casa y la verdad es que no solo lo pasamos muy bien, también son un buen apoyo. Ellos siempre me animan cuando las cosas no van bien y me felicitan cuando si salen bien. Ayer, en el partido contra los Clippers, algunos de ellos vieron su primer partido de la NBA en directo y estaban emocionados. Para mi es importante tener a gente próxima en los partidos, me da más confianza. Pudimos ganar y pude completar un buen partido. El partido fue el primero sin Steve Blake y Travis Outlaw, que han sido traspasados a, precisamente, a los Clippers a cambio de Marcus Camby, que vio el partido en nuestro banquillo. Steve y Travis han sido muy buenos compañeros la temporada y media que llevo en Portland, pero Camby nos puede ayudar mucho.

Ahora hace un año que inauguramos esta página web, y el crecimiento es notable. Gracias a todos los que visitáis la página! Estad atentos porque las novedades no cesarán!

The last days I've had some friends from Badalona staying at my house in Portland. They are all in my house and it has been a lot of fun. They support me in the good and the bad times and that feels good. Last night against the Clippers some of them saw their first NBA game and they where exited. To me it's important to have close friends close to me, it give me confidence. We were able to win and I had a good game. The game was the first without Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw, who were traded to the Clippers. Marcus Camby, now with us, saw the game from the bench. Steve and Travis have been very good teammates and I'm gonna miss them, but Camby will help a lot this team.

Right now it's the first a anniversary of this web site, and the growth has been great. Thanks to all for following it and stay tuned because a lot of new stuff will come soon!

Esta semana la FIBA ha enunciado que mi hermana Marta participará como titular en el All Star femenino de la Euroliga. Estoy muy contento y orgulloso de ella. Han sido los aficionados los que la han seleccionado y eso es muy importante. No tengo duda de que Marta es una de las mejores jugadoras en el baloncesto femenino y que lo merece!

Muchas veces en las entrevistas me preguntan quién es mi ídolo en el deporte. Yo siempre respondo que Marta, porque no sólo tiene mucho talento sino que también ha luchado y trabajado para ser de las mejores.

FIBA Europe announced this week that mi sister Marta will participate as a starter in the Women Euroleague All Star. I’m very happy and very proud of her. The fans have voted her to be a starter and I think this is very important for an athlete. There is no doubt in my mind that she is one of the best players in woman’s basketball and that she deserves it!

Many times in interviews I’m asked who is my sports idol. I always answer it’s Marta, not only because she is talented but also because she has always worked very hard to be one of the best.

Estar tan lejos de casa se compensa cuando tu familia y tus amigos están a tu lado en los momentos especiales. En Navidad vinieron a Portland mis padres y mis amigos de Badalona Joan Rallo y Paco Redondo, dos entrenadores de los equipos de formación del Joventut. Luego en fin de año lo pude celebrar con mis padres y, finalmente el día de Reyes con ellos y con mi físio Paco Fernández y su familia. O sea que he estado bien acompañado todo estos dias festivos. Bueno, festivos en todas partes... Menos en la NBA! Casi nunca se para aquí y la verdad es que ojala estuviera a tope ya para jugar. Mi familia planeo este viaje con la suerte que teníamos muchos partidos en casa pero no he podido estar. Aunque lo importante es recuperarme al cien por cien, y ya queda poco para eso.

Ahora Paco esta trabajando conmigo aquí en Portland y esto me ayudará mucho para ponerme a punto. Espero poder contaroslo pronto!

To be so far away from home in special days or holidays gets compensated when you have your family and friends close. For Christmas, my parents came to Portland and also my friends from Badalona Joan Rallo and Paco Redondo, two coaches from my former team Joventut. My parents where also with me for new year's eve. And then, in Spain we celebrate the Kings day, a festivity that resembles Christmas, on January 6th. Only the presents are brought by the three 'Kings from the East' and not by Santa Claus. It's a tradition and we celebrated it with my parents and my trainer Paco, who came to visit with his wife and his kids, so it was special. So I have been well surrounded this holidays. Well, holidays for most people but not in the NBA! It almost never stops. I wish I could have been playing all these days -when my family planned the trip we felt so lucky we had so many home games this month- but the most important thing is to get a hundred percent healthy and I'm getting close. 

Now Paco is working close with me and it really helps a lot. I hope to be able to tell you I'm back on the court soon!
